2020 Crayola Take Note!

The Take Note! line is perhaps my favorite from Crayola. Why? Because it is the one I use the most. Take Note! has been around since 2018. That year they introduced gel pens and erasable highlighters. The next year in 2019 Crayola introduced Felt-Tip Pens, Highlighter Pens, Dry-Erase markers and Permanent Markers. My favorite was the Highlighter pens. I use these in my planner and to plan lessons, highlighting with one end and writing with the other. Sometimes in my planner I will write and highlight times and appointments. This year in 2020 Crayola has expanded even more introducing; Color Changing Pens, Erasable Highlighters Pastel Party, Fine Line Dry-Erase Markers and Glitter Highlighters. The color changing pens are dual ended.

I am so excited for the expansion of this line! I think I'm most excited for the Glitter Highlighters. The only thing I would change about this line is to have normal color names, not fun ones like Love You so Matcha and Little Black Dress.

Crayola Scented Markers: What's Inside the Box

In 1993 Crayola came out with a line of Scented Markers. At the same time they were releasing a line of scented crayons, the Magic Scents. Crayola stopped making scented crayons a few years later until 2017 when they came out with the new Silly Scent line of Twistable crayons. Crayola has been making scented markers for a long time since. Even when they stopped making specific boxes they still included scented markers with Super Tips markers.

These boxes include many fun scents. The outdoor scents even include calamine lotion. Why anyone would want to smell that is beyond me, but that is what they put in.

Crayola Stampers Markers: What's Inside the Box and History

I also recently was able get pictures for many historic Crayola MiniStampers markers. The Stampers started in 1994.  Stamping was big back then and I imagine Crayola wanted to get in on the trend.  In 1997 and 1998 Crayola introduced Stampers for all kinds of themes. Crayola made; expressions, space shapes, animal shapes, pet shapes, nature shapes, party, four seasons and fun shapes. It seemed Crayola was very excited about their expression line and made them for everything.  They probably cut back on them because they realized they had too many.  I am so excited to find this history for these markers.

I love the Crayola Stamper markers both the Shopkins ones and the mini Expression markers. These ones are both currently on the market. The markers have little stamps of different shapes on the tips of the markers. They add some really nice elements to artwork.  We used the mini Stampers on my daughters potty training chart when she was potty training.  She still keeps that chart under her bed and is super proud of it.  The Shopkins markers feature some of the classic Shopkins unique symbols including the S for Shopkins and the shopping bag.  There markers are a lot of fun and I definitely recommend them for anyone with kids, and they are washable!

Disney Themed Sidewalk Chalk: What's Inside the Box

I found the 8 count Crayola Disney themed sidewalk chalk first at Target. They only carried the Hulk version of the longest time.  I picked up the Captain America chalk at the Crayola Store. It is super crazy that stores do not carry an entire line of a collectible product. I am still missing a marker in the Pip-Scents collection because it was never sold in the United States. I do not know if there are any other 8 count chalk boxes out there.
Sidewalk chalk is an essential outdoor play toy for kids.  The chalk is bright and colorful and themed to the different character sets. My kids and the neighbor kids stay engaged for a long time with the chalk.

Crayola Multicultural Colored Pencils and Markers: What's Inside the Box

Crayola introduced the Multicultural line in 1990.  On their website it says, "Crayola introduced Multicultural Crayons in response to feedback received from consumers and educators. The colors were chosen from our standard selection, and represent skin tones of the world. Black and white are included for blending other color."  Most of these are standard colors, but it is amazing that Crayola put the colors in a unique box.  There are also paints, crayons, model magic and markers in this series.

I bought the Ultra-Clean Washable markers at the Crayola store.  I had held of off on buying them because they were a little pricier than the other Ultra-Clean markers.  Crayola has been making the multicultural line for years.  I know have the crayons, colored pencils and markers.

Crayola Ultra-Clean Washable Fine Tip Markers: What's Inside the Box

In 2014 Crayola came out with a new line of markers and crayons called Ultra-Clean Washable ColorMax Markers. They still have the Washable markers available, but these markers sound like they are supposed to be even more washable and have more bright colors.  I love markers for kids.  They are so easy to use and so easy to wash.  I can not tell you how many times I have washed them, because it is not an arduous task, unlike taking crayon off the wall.  I still have some spots that need to be cleaned. I love fine line markers, they are so versatile and can be used for writing and for coloring.

5 Count Crayola Tie Dye Washable Sidewalk Chalk: What's Inside the Box

I fell in love with the Crayola Tie Dye Washable Sidewalk the first time I saw it. The chalk is a combination of colors and has a very hippy feel to it. And when it went on sale at the end of the season I picked up two boxes, one for me and one for my kids to use this spring and summer.  I can not wait til it gets warm and we can go outside and use it.  The colors are interestingly name, purpy purp being one of the craziest.  The box is really nice for collecting and the colors come in clear plastic wrap making it very easy see the colors, but also collect them and look at them.

5 Count Crayola Paint Brush Pens: What's Inside the Box

The Crayola Paint Brush pens come in red, yellow, green, sky blue, purple. There are other colors, but you have to buy a large pack to get those colors. I have seen the Crayola Paint Brush Pens for a while now, but decided to buy them finally.  We love them. These pens are marketed as a paint brush pen, but the patent is the one that applies to markers.  They are really markers with a long flexible tip, which is really cool.  It is nice to use for calligraphy and lettering applications. We really like them and wish they were available in more colors.

8 Count Crayola Crystal Effects Window Markers: What's Inside the Box

My daughter absolutely loves the Crayola Crystal Effects Window Markers.  These markers are different than the regular window markers.  When used they do not show up very well.  After they warm up they crystallize.  I can definitely see why they put Olaf on the front of the box for the newer series.  Though they really should have put Elsa, she was the one that froze things.  Regardless, my daughter loves them.  She loves Frozen and loves these markers.  During the winter they crystallize slower and during the summer they crystallize quicker.  The finished product depends on how the marker is held and how the stroke is applied.  I think they are a little easier to use for kiddos when it is a little colder.  That way they can color more.

Crayola Super Tips Washable Markers: What's Inside the Box

The Crayola Super Tips Washable Markers can be used to draw thin or thick lines.  I love them.  I use them for a variety of reasons.  These boxes are special because they contain scented markers. Only the scented markers in the 50 count box are named.  That drives me a little crazy when they are not named as I have said often.  I love color names, why not include them?  It is also interesting to note that the scented names in this package are some of the same scents they have used in some of the Doodle Scents, a box I have not been able to find in the United States yet, just 16 of the 18 colors.

20 Count Crayola Super Tips Markers: What's Inside the Box

I got these 20 count Crayola Super Tips markers as a gift.  The fine tip markers are my favorite markers, and Super Tips did not disappoint.  Sadly I let people use these markers and they got lost.  This is not the first box of Super Tips, I know they came out around the late 90's or early 2000's.  An one thing that super bugs me that I say every time is these markers are not labeled with color names.  That drives me crazy.

Crayola Washable Kids Paint: What's Inside the Box

Crayola has been making Washable paints for a long time.  I love using them for my kids projects.  While I really like using acrylic paints, they are super messy with kids, these paints are washable and come off very easily. Acrylic paint will come out generally if caught before it dries, if not it does not come out very easier.  I was super surprised and excited to find this display at Michael's that had 34 individual paints.  I of course wanted to buy them all, but that was not feasible.  I picked out my favorite or my daughters favorite the glitter series. It also comes with a matching clear carrying caddy which I also bought and love and my daughter promptly claimed to use for her colored pencils.  I have a feeling I will have to get another one to store other supplies. I love clear containers.

I like the individual bottles better.  If the bottles from the 6 or 10 back get separated which is bound to happen with kids, it will be easier to remember what the color name of the paint is.  I hope Crayola sells paints like this for years to come. Crayola also sells Tempera and Acrylic paints, which I did not own.  They are not washable, but I am excited to try them out someday for some more permanent projects.

Ultra Clean Washable Crayons: What's Inside the Box

The first type of Washable Crayons from CRAYOLA that I have personally seen is from 1958, there was were a couple boxes before that. I do not know if they used the same formula and ideas for later washable crayon boxes, but it is quite possible. The patent for washable crayons was published in 1999, about the same time as they published the patent for washable markers. According to the patent there are certain additives mixed with the crayons that cause them to fleck less, and they become more washable. Numerous products have been made with these "washable" crayons, but mostly geared at the very young artists.  In 2011 Crayola added washiblity to their mainstream 24 count box and then added it to many other lines in 2013.  They added Ultra-Clean and ColorMAX (both trademark) to the name, and supposedly these crayons are even brighter than normal crayons.
