12 Karin brushmarker PRO Neon Markers

Earlier this year I was able to try out the Karin Brushmarker Pro Markers and they were incredible. These are the Neon Karin Brushmarker Pro Markers. The colors are vivid use the same technology as the other markers. They are very soupy and wet when they go down and do not dry out. They are some of my favorite markers from this company!

2022 Sharpie Brush Twin Markers 12 count

I first saw the Sharpie Brush twin at Creativation Art Materials in 2022. At that time there was a possibility of 24 brush markers from Sharpie. I was more excited about this than I was about the fact they had the ultra fine tip on the bottom which is also pretty cool too. How it works with stores is companies will pitch ideas and stores will pick them up. I do not think any stores picked them up because they are not for sale. They did appear on Amazon for a time, but there is no inventory. Here is crossing my fingers the 24 pack shows up sometime.

That aside the Brush Twin Sharpie markers are really cool They can product 3 different size lines and are great for coloring and lettering work. They include a brush tip and an ultra fine point tip. No more searching for markers. What is also really great is the ultra fine point is on the marker and the color matches the brush tip.  Sharpie does not label their markers, and this could be a tricky task otherwise. Sharpie has some other Brush Tips I will post about, but these markers are different in design. They have a thicker barrel and the tip is slightly different. I colored with them and they were much faster to use than the regular Sharpie fine point. I know my kids would like these more too. Here is the box.

This box of Sharpies was sent as a sample from Sharpie. This blog post contains affiliate links.

Here is the color range and the different sizes the tips can make.

Crayola came out with Colors of Kindness crayons in 2021. They were released at Walmart. The box count was 24 count and contained four new colors, oatmeal, crayellow, cool mint and powder blue. In 2022 Crayola released Colors of Kindness fine line markers to compliment the Colors of Kindness crayons. The Colors of Kindness Colored Pencil contains 12 colors with the four new colors. The Colors of Kindness Fine Line Markers contains 10 colors with the four new colors.

Here are all the boxes side by side with one another They all have a similar feel and design with the Green and Purple color.
Find these at Walmart, Markers, Colored Pencils.
Color Information
The colors in the Fine Line Markers and Colored Pencils are similar. All the colors in the Markers even though it is a 10 count box are in the Colored Pencil box. It is interesting to note that all the colors in the Fine Line Markers are also in the colored pencils, but the only colors that are the same "color" on paper are the new colors. For example orchid in the pencil line is more purple than orchid color in colored pencil.

Sharpie Portrait 12 Markers

I have some very exciting news today! Sharpie has come out with Portrait Colors markers in 2022. Ohuhu came out with a portrait set this year and Crayola came out with Colors of the World a few years ago. The Sharpie Portrait colors set contains 12 shades of markers to represent various skin tones. Many Sharpie fans have been waiting for years for skin tone markers. These will help artists be able to represent skin tone colors in their drawing so much easier. These colors also make Sharpie better able to compete with Ohuhu lines and Copic lines of markers. Now if all their markers were made in brush.

This box of Sharpies was sent as a sample from Sharpie. This blog post contains affiliate links.

Here are the colors of the Portrait color Sharpies: Americano, Marzipan, Classic Brown, Butterscotch, Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Latte, Creme Brulee, Toasted Gingerbread, Peanut Brittle, Black Forest Gateau and Dulce De Leche. This is the order the colors come in the packaging. Make sure to label them before taking them out! This makes the total color count of Sharpie markers 87 now!

I decided to color a Manga page because now I could color skin tones! And yes I know some the colors are outside the lines, need to practice more. I used the Portrait markers and the brush markers.

Here are all the colors arranged in color order from light to dark.

Here is the back of the Portrait color box.

Holbein Colored Pencils, 12 Pastel Tones, 12 Basic Tones, 12 Design Tones Review and Swatches

Recently I got the opportunity to try Holbein colored pencils and they did not disappoint. The pencils that I tried were 12 pack tins of colored pencils, Basic Tone Set, Pastel Tone Set and Design Tone Set. My favorite set was the Pastel Tone Set. I thought the colors were so soft, vibrant and pretty. Holbein pencils have been around in Japan for a long time and are making their way to the US in 2021. Holbein colored pencils are sold open stock or in packs of 12, 24, 36, 50, 100 and 150. The best place to get these pencils is an authorized dealer, not Amazon. Unfortunately because they are worth so much there is a lot of fraud on Amazon and eBay.

This blog post contains affiliate links. Colored Pencils provided by Holbein, paper provided by Hahnemuhle (Bamboo and Harmony Watercolor), and colored book provided by Hopscotch Girls.Find these pencils at Blick Art Supplies.

Click here to find the Hahnemuhle Harmony Watercolor paper.

For my review I tried these pencils on three different paper types for swatches, watercolor cold press paper, smooth HP paper and black cardstock. The colored pencils reacted differently to each paper, but they were super pigmented on all three, which is one of the most important thing with colored pencils.

This is the watercolor paper. The top swatches were without the Meltz blending solution. The bottom swatch on mauve, rose pink, and pink I used a colorless blender to blend half of the unblended swatch. The results were about the same using the Meltz and the colorless blender.
Color Information
Here are all the colors in the sets:
What's In the Box:
  • 12 Pastel Tone Set: OP 434 Mauve, OP 426 Rose Pink, OP 022 Pink, OP 028 Salmon Pink, OP 134 Naples Yellow, OP 127 Cream, OP 222 Lettuce Green, OP 225 Cobalt Green, OP 228 Ice Green, OP 324 Sky Blue, OP 328 Lavender Blue, OP 430 Wisteria
  • 12 Design Tone Set: OP 449 Magenta, OP 043 Red, OP 340 Tangerine, OP 145 Dandelion, OP 149 Lemon, OP 243 Fresh Green, OP247 Viridian, OP 348 Royal Blue, OP 443 Iris, OP 510 Black, OP 500 White
  • 12 Basic Tone Set: OP 042 Carmine, OP 048 Orange, OP 147 Yellow, OP 251 Apple Green, OP 264 Holly Green, OP 323 Aqua, OP 147 Cobalt Blue, OP 441 Violet, OP 057 Burnt Sienna, OP 180 Burnt Umber, OP 510 Black, OP 500 White
This is the colored pencils on the smooth HP paper. The laydown was super smooth. The bottom is blending with the colorless blender. Click here to get this swatch chart.
These are the swatches on black paper. All the colors showed up really well.

Here is a coloring page from "I Am Confident, Brave and Beautiful, A Coloring book For Girls". Find on Amazon. It was printed on smooth paper. I used the colorless blender for blending.

Here is the same page on bamboo Bamboo paper using the Meltz blender for a watercolor effect.
I would definitely recommend picking up one or two of these sets or all of them. The colors are super pretty, the laydown is nice and there are so many ways to use them.

Here is the box information. The colored pencils that are made for the US have a AP sticker on the right bottom corner of the box. They have been approved for use in the United States.

Here is the YouTube video I made for these pencils.

Super Fun Confetti, Gem, Rock and Giant Crayons for Kids by Kid Made Modern

How fun do these Kid Made Modern crayons look? These are the rock crayons. There are also gem, confetti and giant crazy crayons. I tested out the standard Kid Made Modern markers and crayons and they had a diverse palette with vibrant colors and excellent lay down properties. These specialty crayons were no exception. They all colored really well and each were unique in their own way.

This blog post contains affiliate links and the crayons were provided by Kid Made Modern in exchange for an honest review.

Here are the boxes for the gem, confetti and rock crayons. The gem crayons have a unique shape and the rock and gem crayons are confetti crayons, ie made of more than one color.

Click here to find on Amazon.

Here are the boxes for the giant crazy crayons. They come in regular neon and bright. They are a mixture of colors.
Here are all the colors for the rock crayons. They contain 2 colors each with one base color and another color sprinkled in.
Here are the confetti crayons. These crayons are ideal for blending and shading. I would use this whole palette for a picture. They look really good together.
Here are the gem crayons. They all have tips that are easy to write with.
Small kids can grip both the gem crayons and the rock crayons easily in their hands.
Here is my daughter and son coloring with the rock crayons. Can you tell what costume she is wearing?
Overall we were super happy with the crayons. These sets are super fun for kids of all ages. Their easy grip is ideal for young colorists and still fun for older kiddos. Check them out on Amazon.

We did not end up using these because I am a collector and did not want to open the package, but they would work a lot like the confetti crayons.
