Sharpie Pocket and Tank Highlighters: Fluorescent and Pastel

In 2022 Sharpie came out with some new highlighter colors, the pastel colors and new packaging for the existing fluorescent markers. There are now 18 total highlighter colors in all for the Sharpie highlighter line up. I personally love yellow, it is my go to highlighter color, but am excited for all the new colors. They even named all of them.

Stablio Boss Original 23 Highlighters

Stabilo Boss Original highlighters are super popular and I have been dying to try them. The biggest set available is this 23 count set released in 2018 for Stabilo's 50th anniversary. The highlighters are really pretty colors. My only complaint about them is they are super wide and take up a lot of room. The container they come in is super flimsy. I will keep mine in the box so they do not accidently fall all over if they get bumped. There were 4 new colors introduced in this box: cloudy grey, breezy blue, frozen fuchsia, and pale orange. I can not wait to use these more.

Here is all the Color Information. The color names are not on the box, but I found them online and was able to connect them to all of their color name counterparts. There are also individual barcodes on each marker.
Color Information
What's inside the box:
  • The 14 Pastel Stabilo Boss Highlighter colors are: Pastel Frozen Fuchsia (70/158), Pastel Lilac Haze (70/155), Pastel Breezy Blue (70/111), Pastel Dusty Grey (70/194), Pastel Cloudy Blue (70/112), Pastel Touch of Turquoise (70/113), Pastel Hint of Lime (70/116), Pastel Dash of Lime (70/133), Pastel Milky Yellow (70/144), Pastel Pale Orange (70/144), Pastel Pink Blush (70/129), Pastel Cherry Blossom Pink (70/150), and Pastel Coral Red (70/140).
  • The 9 Fluorescent Stabilo Boss colors are: Lavender (70/55), Lilac Pink (70/58), Blue (70/31), Turquoise Blue (70/51), Green (70/33), Yellow (70/24), Orange (70/54), Pink (70/56), and Red (70/40).
Collecting Information
This box is collectible because it celebrates the 50 years of highlighters and it was the first time 4 colors were introduced.

Sharpie 36 S-Note Creative Marker

Earlier this year 2021 I wrote a post about the 24 S-Note Markers from Sharpie. At that time I knew there were 12 new colors coming, but it was not out yet. It is finally out and I am so happy that I got my hands on a box. I found mine on Amazon. They may be available other places later. What is so special about these new colors? The new colors are a lot lighter than the previous colors. That was one of the biggest criticism I saw of the other set of markers. Now there is a super broad palette of markers.

Sharpie 24 S-Note Creative Marker

If you have followed me at all you know that I love Sharpie markers. Sharpie has been making their markers for a number of years and have branched out from the alcohol marker line over the years. This branch off is the Sharpie S-Note Creative Marker. What does it compare to? It can be compared to Zebra Mildliner and Crayola Super Tips.

I heard about these at Creativation/Art Marterials World this year and had to pick them up! They are so pretty. I also have the Mildliners and did the swatch charts at the same time. If I was going to get one I would get the Mildliners because I felt the ink came out a little easier, aka not as dry as the S-Note, but these colors are super pretty.

Click here to find the markers on Blick.   The paper I used is Hahnemuhle Nostalgie white paper and DCWV cardstock. Click here to find the paper I used on Blick.

Another advantage to the Mildliners over the Sharpie S-Notes are the Mildliners have the color names on them. There are names for the S-Notes. I found them by going on Sharpie.com and clicking on all the S-Note colors. I was able to match up all the names and now there is a chart here for reference. The Mildliner has two tips, the Sharpie S-Note has one, but honestly this was not a deal breaker for me because both are chisel tip and it is super easy to write thin lines by turning the marker point. The Mildliners also have one more color.

The colors for the Sharpie S-Note creative markers are: gray, light gray, plum, raspberry, orchid, brick red, guava, papaya, cinnamon, mango, honey, salted caramel, lemonade, olive, pear, limeade, sea green, jade, surf's up, scuba blue, perwinkle, indigo, lavender, and grape.

25 Zebra Mildliner Highlighters and Creative Markers

Have you seen a more beautiful set of markers and colors? I am literally IN LOVE with these markers from Zebra. These markers are the Zebra Mildliner Highlighter Creative Markers. They have been around for a few years making their way over from Japan. The colors are soft and great for note taking, bullet journaling, lettering, calligraphy and even coloring. There is not a ton of colors, but the color palette works very well together and looks amazing! The ink comes out very well also, a little better than the S-Note from Sharpie. It is pretty easy to get a solid line.

I was given these markers in exchange for an honest review. This blog post contains affiliate links. Paper is from Hahnemuhle Paper and DCWV.

Sharpie Highlighter with Ink Indicator

I love anything Sharpie. I love the name Sharpie, and I love their vibrant colors. Here is another post I did on a 30 count special edition Sharpie Permanent Marker set. This is the highlighter Sharpie set. It contains red, yellow, green, and blue and is a narrow chisel. There is an ink indicator to show when the ink is low. There are 6 other shades that probably came in another container.

2020 Crayola Take Note!

The Take Note! line is perhaps my favorite from Crayola. Why? Because it is the one I use the most. Take Note! has been around since 2018. That year they introduced gel pens and erasable highlighters. The next year in 2019 Crayola introduced Felt-Tip Pens, Highlighter Pens, Dry-Erase markers and Permanent Markers. My favorite was the Highlighter pens. I use these in my planner and to plan lessons, highlighting with one end and writing with the other. Sometimes in my planner I will write and highlight times and appointments. This year in 2020 Crayola has expanded even more introducing; Color Changing Pens, Erasable Highlighters Pastel Party, Fine Line Dry-Erase Markers and Glitter Highlighters. The color changing pens are dual ended.

I am so excited for the expansion of this line! I think I'm most excited for the Glitter Highlighters. The only thing I would change about this line is to have normal color names, not fun ones like Love You so Matcha and Little Black Dress.

Take Note Permanent Markers, Highlighter Pens, and Dry-Erase Markers

Take Note! is a super exciting line for Crayola. Crayola pioneered the crayon movement as we know it back in the early 1900's. They introduced crayons to the world, when chalk had been the medium of choice for school aged children. They refined crayons as we know it and helped the public learn what they actually were. Over the years they introduced markers, colored pencils and paint to the world. Now all of these are staples in every classroom. In 2018 they decided they wanted to include even more essential school supplies in their line up. They introduced highlighters and gel pens. This year in 2019 Crayola is introducing Dry-Erase Markers, Highlighter Pens, Felt Tip Pens, and Permanent Markers. I was able to see them when I went to Toy Fair in NYC and here is a sample of some of the new products. What makes them special is the colors they provide, the colors are unique to Crayola and super bright. There are larger sets than this and I will show them later to you as I get them.

Crayola Take Note! Review and Giveaway

I was really excited when Crayola told me they had a new line of supplies, Take Note! for the school year. They sent me some Take Note! gel pens and erasable highlighters in exchange for an honest review. What is so cool about this new line? Well let me tell you...a lot. Read all about them in this post. I know I say that about all Crayola products, but I really mean it. I would not say I loved it if I did not. The great thing about this post is you have a chance to win these too!

What's In the Box
There are 3 different products in the Take Note! series. There are 6 and 14 packs of Crayola Take Note! Gel Pens and 6 Crayola Take Note! Erasable Highlighters. Crayola labeled the colors on the back of the box, which is amazing, because it bothers me when art supplies are not named. The colors are creatively named as opposed to most crayon colors that are traditionally named (ie red and blue). My favorite Gel Pen colors are Denim Jacket and Little Black Dress, because black pens and the denim color.

Colors:
14 Gel Pens: Up Beet, Berry Pretty, My Valentine, Orange You Lovely, Summer Sunset, Par-Tea, Emerald City, Jade Necklace, Surf's Up, Denim Jacket, Twilight Sky, Lilac Bouquet, Namaste, Little Black Dress
6 Gel Pens: Little Black Dress, Lilac Bouquet, Surf's Up, Jade Necklace, My Valentine, Berry Pretty
6 Highlighters: Mystic Amethyst, Royal Majesty, Mermaid Wave, Glow Party, Coral Reef, Electir Blush
Purchase Information: Received from Crayola for review
Where to buy:  any place that sells Crayola

What Did I think?

I would definitely buy both of these products.

The gel pens are more pen like then the Gel Pens in the Signature Series. They work better too. These pens have minimal bleed through and are great for bullet journaling, writing lists etc. I use mine for my planner. The colors are very vibrant. The pens came with a silicone ball attached to the tip to keep the pen from drying out. All the pens were super fresh except one for me. I would definitely recommend them and will buy more when they run out. One time I bought some gel pens in New York City and used them a lot. I took them EVERYWHERE. I was visiting family when I lost them and could never find them in the store again. These pens are just like those missing pens.  I will definitely keep them close so I do not lose them again.

The coolest thing about the highlighters is the magical eraser. To the average Crayola user this may seem like new technology, but it has been around for years. I love that Crayola is packaging and marketing them in a different way. My kids were amazed when I was making the picture above, and made pictures of their own. How did Crayola make an erasable highlighter? It's a chemical reaction on the paper. The eraser dye reacts with the color dye to "erase" the old color. I found that the any eraser would work on any other color except the yellow one. It had to use its own eraser. These highlighters can be useful and fun for kids and adults alike. The only thing is once something is "erased" it can not be colored over again, unless the yellow is used. But then if the yellow is erased nothing will color over it.

I would definitely recommend both of these products and can not wait to use them for years to come. The only thing I would change is the packaging. I would package them in a box instead of plastic. It is hard to collect items in plastic because once they are open the packaging is destroyed.

Erasable Highlighter: What's Inside the Box

I picked up this Crayola Erasable Highlighter at the Crayola Store in Kansas City.  This is a fluorescent highlighter that will also erase.  It will stain clothing and some surfaces. The level or erasure will also depend on the paper. It may also smudge pen and pencil marks.
