Crayola-Target Multicolor Poptimism Set: Crayons, 64 Pip Squeak Skinnies, 64 Colored Pencils, 64 Chalk, 64 Markers

I found out about the Crayola Mulitcolor Poptimism set on Instagram. The boxes are designed specifically for Target and located in the seasonal section. It fits in really well with the rest of the Target seasonal summer section. They are labeling it as a special edition. There are a lot of bold and rainbow colors on the boxes. I bought the crayons and colored pencils, because I did not want to spend the money for the other sets even though they are really cool boxes. I have a hard time buying sets of other art supplies besides colored pencils and crayons that do not have unique colors in them. One is storage space and the other is the expense. Check out these sets at Target, I have a feeling they will only be around for a while!

What is Poptimism? Poptimism is the rise of pop in the 2000 and 2010's as a dominant music form taking on the same significance as Rock N Roll.

Back to school is fast approaching. I was so excited when Crayola sent me a box of supplies to review.  I included some of the ones they sent me and added some of my personal favorites. 3 Count Finding Dory Crayola Themed Pip Squeak Markers: What's Inside the Box

I first saw the Finding Dory Themed Crayola Pip Squeak markers at Michael's when I was looking for the themed crayons. Each package contains 3 markers, with makers based on Hank and Dory. They are way cute.  I wish they had more of the characters.  My son liked them so much he ripped one of them open. Who was your favorite character from the movie?

3 Count Shopkins Themed Crayola Pip Squeaks Markers: What's Inside the Box

I found out about the Shopkins Themed Crayola Pip Squeaks Markers earlier this year.  They were first sold at Toys R Us.  Unfortunately I am located in the middle of the country and my Toys R Us gets toys later than the east coast.  It took several months to find these markers and when they came in they did not have the whole set.  I found the rest at Michael's.  Unfortunately Michael's charges almost twice as much for them.  I asked if they would price match, but they said they do not price match with Toy's R Us just the other craft stores.  I explained to them how much more they were and they finally relented.  I am so excited to have the whole set and so is my daughter!  Here you go.  They are so much fun.  I love their themes.

Crayola 64 Count Pip-Squeak Skinnies: What's Inside the box

Overview and Review
I absolutely love big boxes of Crayola markers and crayons and this box of Crayola Pip-Squeaks Skinnies is no exception!  They are the cutest little markers.  I love all the unique color names.  Crayola stepped away from their usual dictionary color names with the names of these markers. Cherry Tomato, Cheddar Chip, Toy Poodle, Sea Bubbles are some examples. My kids love these markers because they are all color coordinated and each one features a tip character on the front. They are also really good for adult coloring because there is so much color variation and they have thin tips.

Coloring Book Crayons and Markers: What's Inside the Box

Crayola came out with the Coloring book markers and Crayons in the late 1990's. The markers said they were a low bleed option for coloring books. Markers do often bleed through to the other page. I do not know if these were made especially for coloring books or a feature of the regular marker, but marketed as low bleed because they were low bleed anyway. The crayons appear to just be a normal crayon formulation, but specialty colors that look good in coloring books.

Crayola later expanded the Coloring Book line to Pip-Squeak markers in the 2000's. They are a specialty set of markers picked out to color with in coloring books.  Four of the colors are not included in the standard 16 Pip-Squeak set, tiny toad brown, blue jay, butterfly orange, and desert flower.

16 Count Crayola Pip-Squeaks Markers: What's Inside the Box

Crayola Pip-Squeaks markers came out in 2004, this is the very first box.  The Pip-Squeaks feature unique trademarked names.  They took a turn from the regular coloring of Crayola products and are more fun, with colors such as toy poodle black, and little boy blue.  They are meant for children and are very cute.  Since then there have been many spin-offs of this marker, Pip-Squeaks in Disguise, Pip-Scents, and Minions themed Pip-Squeaks. Crayola even released Pip-Squeaks colored pencils. They are a hit at this house, they are my son's favorite coloring tool.

The first box of Pip-Squeaks markers was a gift from my husband, the second that I have featured is a gift for my kids.  I was trying to declutter the house and got rid of the packaging.  I do not know what  year the second box is.  But they can be easily told apart.  The earlier Pip-Squeaks marker was predominately red, black and green.  The later version changed to the text color to the color of the marker and added a picture of Pip to each marker and a TM after each color name.  The packaging of these two were the same.  There is a picture below of the packaging.  It is plastic.  This year Crayola changed the packaging to a cardboard box.

18 Count Crayola Pip-Squeaks Colored Pencils: What's Inside the Box

Aren't the Crayola Pip-Squeaks colored pencils the cutest things you have ever seen?  They are the cutest things I've ever seen.  It took me a while to buy them, but I am so glad I did.  They are thicker than normal pencils and have the coolest crayon sharpener ever.  Up to this point Crayola had only been suing the pip-squeak name for markers, but they expanded it to colored pencils.  These are the only non marker pip-squeaks I have seen.

As a side note, I was extremely glad the name of the colored pencil is on the back of the box.  Since this is my least favorite packaging I was glad I did not have to open it, even though I want to to color with them.

Pip-Squeaks Washable Writers: What's Inside the Box

The Pip-Squeaks Washable Writers are so cute.  My son is in love with them and has been since he first saw them.  They feature faces of the different pip colors.  They also expand from small to big. Te tip is different than most pip-squeaks, it is a fine tip, the other pip-squeaks are broad tips.

I have not opened these yet, because of the packaging.  I think Crayola really needs to stop making this packaging, because it is hard to store and once opened they are everywhere.  I will probably end up opening them soon however because I really want to color with them!

Each marker also features a fun face that describes the marker name.  And true to pip-squeak fashion the colors have fun names, little boy blue, brass button, baby bunny pink.  The tip for each marker is also featured on the side.

6 Count Crayola Pip-Squeaks Mix 'Ems: What's Inside the Box

Crayola Pip-Squeaks Mix 'Ems are very fun markers.  They can be used to make 36 unique colors.  There are six markers in the set and can be used with one another.  Depending on the desired effect the marker needs to be held a certain way.  To blend them, the marker is held at a 90 degree angle to the paper, to mix them the marker is held at a 45 degree angle to the paper.

I got this box of Pip-Squeaks Mix 'Ems from a friend and was very excited about them.  I have not used them because of the packaging.  It is packaged in my least favorite packaging.  Once the packaging is opened it can not be closed again.  And they are harder to store once opened.

Crayola Minions Crayons and Pip•Squeaks Markers

To say the Minions movie is promoting the movie is an understatement.  They are way promoting their movie.  I have seen Minions inspired products everywhere!  Toys, Play-Doh, Crayola Alive, anything marketed for a kid they have it.  Disney really needs to learn a thing or two about the marketing.  They did not have any Frozen items available, not a lot of Big Hero 6 items available when the movies were released.  They could have made millions with all the merchandising. And I am sure my daughter would have eaten up Crayola Alive with any sort of Disney character.

Universal Studios partnered with Target and Crayola to release a special line of crayon and Pip•Squeaks boxes. They along the same lines as the Target Pick Your Pack Boxes and Walmart Tip Collection boxes.  The marker boxes do not have names, but coordinate with the matching crayon boxes.  The markers have pictures of all the Minions on them.

Pip•Squeaks in Disguise Series 1 and 2: What's Inside the Box

Pip•Squeaks in Disguise are some really neat markers from Crayola.  They feature the Pip•Squeaks series, but they are all wearing outfits and have arms, hats and shoes. These  parts can be taken off and put back on.  They are also interchangeable.  My son really loves the Pip•Squeaks markers because they have the faces on the markers. We opened some of the markers and have basically lost the extra parts. They do not stay on very well, but they are very fun to play with. My kids loved them.

I first saw the Crayola Pip•Squeaks in Disguise series in Target.  I loved them when I saw them, but I did not buy them.  I have said before that I do not collect markers as much because they do not last as long. I am a collector that likes to use my collection and if it does not work it gets thrown out.  For Christmas Santa surprised me with these in my stocking.  I was so excited.  I have Series 1 and 2.  I found Series 2 at the Dollar Tree.  It was a lot cheaper than Series 1.  I even picked up a second set for my kids.

I wish the packaging was different, the markers have to stay in the packaging to make them collectible.

Crayola My Color Is 8 Count: What's Inside the Box

The Crayola My Color Is series includes the colors; blue, pink, purple, green, orange, red, black and yellow. It was sold in 2015 at Target stores. The boxes included: Window Crayons, Pip-Squeak Skinnies Markers, Short Colored Pencils, Dry-Erase Crayon, Pip-Squeak Marker, Mini Twistables Crayon, and a Color Sticks Colored Pencil.

My husband bought these boxes for me for my birthday. They were expensive at 4.99 each, but I absolutely love them.  The back features quotes from kids on all the colors.  My kids really want a box.  I let my son use the window crayons, and will probably pick them up a box when they go on clearance.

An interesting note is that Crayola has trademarked the "My Color Is" name.

4 Count Pip•Scents Washable Markers: What's Inside the Box

Crayola Pip•Scents washable markers are a big hit in my house, they are my 2 year old sons absolute favorite markers.  (As I'm writing this, he keeps pointing to the picture and saying mine, mine, mine). Crayola Pip•Scents washable markers came out in 2014. They were sold at Target except Sodas and Shakes. That one was not sold in the US for some reason. Crayola continues to add personality to their Pip•Squeaks markers.  These markers feature a face and the item associated with the foot item associated with the color. They are scented according the theme. I am so glad that Crayola keeps doing scented supplies. After the discontinuation of the Magic Scents crayons I was worried Crayola would not do anymore.  They changed the names of the crayons because they did not want children to eat them. My son has not tried to eat these, he just loves to draw with them.
