Crayola Paint Markers are the Worst Paint Markers

One of the great things about Crayola is that they were one of the front runners and innovators for crayons, chalk, colored pencils and markers. Their products are the beginner products that are used in classrooms across the world. It is the first supply company that people are introduced to. But in the past 25 years they have really missed the mark with innovative products and their attempts at paint markers is case in point.

I had high hopes for the metallic outline markers and liquid metal markers that came out in the 2020's. They have really pretty packaging and the artwork on the boxes looks amazing. But alas Crayola really miss missed the mark with paint markers.

The biggest problem is the markers is some of them take FORVER to activate. I was activating some of these for 5-10 minutes. Instead of making 4 types of markers, Crayola should focus on making one marker type really well.
  • For example, the glitter and metallic activate differently. One does not need to be shaken and the tip does not compress to let more ink out, but the other does. I make the mistake of trying to compress one of the one that did not and the marker tip got stuck.
  • The metallic outline markers are good in theory, but really gimmicky.
  • The liquid metal markers are okay. Those were the hardest to activate. I think some of the ink got stuck and it did not want to come out.
  • The color palette is horrible too. They should just do a basic color palette without the glitter and sparkles especially in the signature line.
Overall the markers are just really bad and do not come close to competing with other paint markers.

The liquid metal definitely look better on black paper. The meallic look okay on black paper and the glitter which I thought would be the best looks the worst. The metallic outline just looks white on the paper. (The titles were written using a posca marker)

Here are all the markers. The presentation is nice. They all have names, but Crayola should really focus on what is inside of the marker instead of the outside right now. If the product does not work it does not matter what it looks like.
