Holbein Luminous Watercolor Set

Do you want to see the coolest watercolors? Well one of the coolest watercolor sets? I was able to get my hands on the Holbein Luminous watercolor set. They sent in exchange for an honest review and I was super impressed. The biggest reason I wanted this watercolor set is the colors glow under black light.

The set consists of 12 colors. The set is balanced in rainbow color order ranging from red to yellow to violets.

Here are the swatches on white watercolor paper. Find these watercolors at Blick.

The colors can also be used on black paper. I think I need a little more practice with black paper, but here is how they turned out for me.

And here are the colors in the dark. The violet, blue violet, and magenta colors did not glow as much as the other colors.

While I was having fun with the watercolors I used the watercolors on a drawing of Derpy and Sussie from K-Pop Demon Hunters. I thought this would be super cool because in the movie they glow and it would be fun to see that on paper.

I loved how the eyes turned out in this watercolor. I used the yellows on the edges and while still wet I brough in the pinks on the interior. The orange color was formed from the mixing. The gradient on Derpy's face was also tricky. I especially focused on the blue being light around his eyes. The mouth was a bit tricky, but I combined black with the red to get some depth in the mouth.

Here is Derpy and Sussie in the dark. Sussie does not glow as much, but look at Derpy's eyes and fur. I like how the background looks like wisps of clouds.

Here is the packaging for the set. It comes in a standard Holbein red watercolor package with the colors on the front. The set is multi branded with Japanese, Spanish, maybe French also on the packaging. That is so they do not have to have the packaging be country specific.

Here is what the tubes look like. The tubes have the swatch of the watercolor and very clearly the color number with the color name in smaller fount below. The colors also come in larger tubes, but I do not see myself going through that much paint...at least for now. They are made in Japan.
And here are the sides of the box. I love all the detail Holbein puts into their sets. The AP symbol is on the side making this a perfect set for all ages.

What do you think of the Holbein Luminous watercolor set? I love using this set and can not wait to use it more! Find them at Blick.
