Blue Ribbon Crayola Crayon, One Hundred Billion

In 1996 Crayola celebrated in a major way by making it's 100,000,000,000 or one hundred billion crayon. To commemorate this occasion Fred Rogers, aka Mister Rogers visited the Crayola Factory in February 1996, and poured the wax for the one hundred billionth crayon. 1 million commemoration blue ribbon crayons were made and put in a special limited edition 96 count box. Ten of the blue ribbon crayons were wrapped in gold foil, the winner won a trip to the opening of the Crayola Factory and a chance to win the one hundred billionth crayon. The winner of this crayon Darlen Martin won the crayon and sold it back to Crayola for $100,000. If it had been me there would have been no way I would have given it back haha. There were also crayons wrapped in silver and red foil. The silver crayons got a giant blue ribbon crayon replica and the red ones got a plush toy. I was able to secure my hands on one of these blue ribbon crayons. It looks like they were also sold separately at the Crayola Store at the Crayola Factory. Thanks Ed Welter for your info on this!

Silly Putty: Super Bright and Original

I am so excited to get a post about Silly Putty on my website! Before slime was a thing Silly Putty was all the rage. Silly Putty has been around since World War II when it was discovered by accident. Scientists were trying to make a rubber substitute but came up with Silly Putty instead.

Silly Putty contains a viscoelastic liquid giving it all it's unique properties. When formed into a ball it will bounce, but it left for a long time it will become a puddle. Back in the day it would replicate ink from newspapers before the newspapers changed the type of ink they used. Putty can be used to play with, but it has many more uses. It can be used for removing link and dirt from surfaces, for help with physical therapy, to reduce stress, modeling items.

This year Crayola is introducing a new character, Nugget along on their Silly Putty boxes. He is a sassy and smart chicken. They have introduced Super Bright, Silly Putty XL, Silly Putty Super Bounce, Silly Scents Mix Em's, and Silly Putty Ugly Putty Poop in 2019.

Here are two boxes of Silly Putty, Super Bright and Original.

Erasable Highlighter: What's Inside the Box

I picked up this Crayola Erasable Highlighter at the Crayola Store in Kansas City.  This is a fluorescent highlighter that will also erase.  It will stain clothing and some surfaces. The level or erasure will also depend on the paper. It may also smudge pen and pencil marks.

Crayola Project Paint

I bought this Crayola Project Paint when it was on sale at Target.  I love the vibrant color and the fact it is not washable.  It is nice to have some permanent paint for lasting projects.
