The Crayola Experience Orlando box came out in 2015 in conjunction with the opening of the Crayola Experience in Orlando, Florida that same year. The only place you can get this box is in Orlando, Florida! Each Crayola Experience has it's own unique box. This box features lots of fun things to do in Florida.

I was given this box in exchange for a review. This blog post contains affiliate links.

My visit to Crayola Experience in Easton Pennsylvania

For my 31st birthday I wanted to go some place really special. I chose Crayola Experience over New York City. To be fair I chose New York City for my 30th birthday. The Crayola Experience had just barely opened. At that time I had a 3 month old baby and we got to Easton a little late, but we were still able to enjoy our time at the Crayola Experience in Easton, Pennsylvania and have a lot of fun.

Location and Pricing
The Crayola Experience Easton Pennsylvania location is 65,00 square feet with 28 attractions. There are many shops and restaurants close by. It is 1.5 hours from NYC and Philadelphia, PA.The address is:
  • Crayola Experience 30 Centre Square Easton, PA 18042
The hours are generally 9:30 or 10:00 to 4:00 or 6:00. Check before you go.

What is the Crayola Experience?

The Crayola Experience was first opened in spring 2013. Before that it was called the Crayola Factory. The Crayola Factory was originally opened in 1996. The Factory was originally opened at the urge of city leaders to help revitalize downtown Easton. It has since expanded and the area now boasts a large number of businesses. It was rebranded and renamed Crayola Experience in 2013. Many attractions were added that focused on kids and color.

Since then Crayola Experience has really expanded. In July 2015 Crayola opened a Crayola Experience in Orlando, Florida. In May 2016 Crayola opened a Crayola Experience in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Mall of America. In spring 2018 Crayola will open another Crayola Experience in Plano, Texas at the Shops at Willow Bend. My dream would be to visit all these places. This is not the first attempt to open a color themed park. Crayola Works was opened on June 21, 2002 outside of Baltimore, MD. It closed in 2004. I do not know why it closed, but I think Crayola definitely learned from those experiences because the other locations have been doing so well. Well enough Crayola Experience is expanding all over the country. I would love to live close enough to one to go often.

I really think they should a Crayola Experience in downtown Kansas City at the Crown Center. The Crown Center is a mall owned by Hallmark, the parent company of Crayola. They already have a Crayola Store in the Crown Center and Kaleidoscope activity center. Kaleidoscope is a free attraction that is smaller than the Crayola experiences, but has a few of the same activities, puzzles, glow in the dark coloring, a drying oven, and a painting station. I think it would really add to the area.

What to do at the Crayola Experience
Each experience features activities for kids and a Crayola Store. The Easton location features 4 floors and is 65,000 square feet. The current activities are:
  • Activity Studio: Cut, color and paste crafts.
  • Art Alive!: Create digital works of art, they are then displayed on a giant wall.
  • Be A Star: Create your own coloring page.
  • Big Blue
The worlds biggest crayon is on display by the Crayola Cafe. It was made October 11, 2003. It weights 1500 pounds, is 15 feet long and 16 inches in diameter. It was made by "123,000 blue Crayola crayons gathered from children around the country, who contributed their 'leftolas' in an effort to help break the current world record!"
  • Cafe Stage: Learn about the history and science behind crayons. I do not think this was here when I went, I would have LOVED it.
  • Color Magic: Bring coloring book pages to life in a 4-D experience.
  • Color Playground: Play on the playgorund
  • Colossal Caddy: Color with a huge Caddy of crayons
  • Cool Moves: Dance with your favorite crayons. This was my daughters favorite part.
  • Crayon Factory: Watch a demonstration of crayon making. I wish they still offered tours however. This was neat, but I wanted to be able to see the real factory.
  • Drip Art: Make a drip art from melted crayon. Here is my daughter's creation.
  • Stomp and Play: Play games on an interactive floor. My daughter loved this area. I only do not have a picture of her there because I do not show put pictures of my own kids on my blog.
  • Melt & Mold: Make your own crayons
  • Meltdown: Create artwork from melted crayons.
  • Modeling Madness: Use model magic to make creations.
  • Paint Palette: Paint with water colors and puffy paint and then dry in the oven.
  • Puzzle It!: Create a personalized puzzle. Here is a puzzle we created at Kaleidoscope activity center. We painted it, dried it in the even then made it into a puzzle.
  • Rockin' Paper: Watch your coloring creations dance.
  • Toddler Town: Toddlers can play with multi-colored pegboard and play in a giant ball maze.
  • Trading Post: Color your own shirts, make sand art etc. We did not have time to color our shirts at the store, but my daughter and I picked up shirts and markers. We colored them at home later. We love wearing them at the same time. She is going to grow out of her's soon though :(
  • Water Works: Play in the water with Crayola toy boats.
  • Wrap it up!: Make custom Crayons. The crayons available are: Laser Lemon, Shocking Pink, Granny Smith Apple, Purple Mountain's Majesty, and Cerulean. Here are our custom crayons, the cerulean machine was not working.

History of Crayola
I loved the history that was lining the walls of the Crayola Experience. I really wish there was a separate museum for Crayons. That is my dream. I would love to see one or be part of one some day. I am so glad they have this. It is a wall talking about the history of Crayola.

Behind the worlds largest crayon was a wall celebrating Crayola's history with history of some of the specific colors.

There was also a Cafe Crayola. I have not eaten at this location, but I ate at the one in Kansas City and it was delicious!
Food and Cafe is the Crayola Cafe in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Crayola Store was my favorite area. I have never seen SO MANY Crayola items all in one place. I definitely stocked up. I started completing my collection of Crayola plastic dishware at this location. The dishware collection features cups, plates and bowls that are BPA free, dishwasher and microwave safe. My sister bought the cups for me earlier and I had no idea how many other colors or items were in the collection. They did not have the whole set. I finished the collection at the Crayola Store in Kansas City. We also picked out a container of crayons from the Pick Your Pack wall.
We fit about 140 crayons in this tin.
These are all the crayon colors that were available at the time.
The wall had all the marker names and when the name was first created. It also did this for the crayons, but I did not take pictures.
The Building

The back of the building one of my favorite parts of the building. It features a big box of crayons being dumped and then mural of crayons doing various on the back of a yellow building with artificial windows. The crayons are painting it, raising a sign, putting out Crayola towels on a laundry line, sneaking around the building, climbing in windows, and peaking out from the painting. It is super cute.

One of my favorite parts is the crosswalk they painted. Instead of regular lines, it is crayons.
What did I think?
If you are a parent of children this experience will not disappoint. It was super fun and engaging. Your kids will be entertained for hours. My child was very entertained and loved all the activities and bright colors inside. As a nursing mom who had to nurse I as super impressed with their nursing room. It was the best nursing lounge I have ever seen!

As a collector you will love the history on the walls, the large crayon, customizing your crayons, the Crayola store where you can buy things you can not find anywhere else. You may be disappointed however by how much history is missing and the fact you can not go on a tour. I really wish they would open a museum close by for the adults. I think the kids would love it too. Hallmark has a museum in downtown Kansas City by the Kaleidoscope activity center. It is chocked full of history and some of Crayola's history. I may post about it one day. I would love for there to be something like this here. I think it would really draw in lots of visitors to city ones that may not necessarily be interested in the kids activities in the Crayola Experience. They could also charge extra to go on a behind the scenes tour at Crayola. I worked Boeing and they do this at their Everett manufacturing center. The tour costs extra but is totally worth it. Many companies also offer the option of watching workers through a window, though I would love a tour more than this option. But all the drawbacks of history and no tour definitely do not diminish from making this A MUST for every Crayola collector out there. Check out my fellow collectors visit.
(Do not mind me I was still wearing maternity clothes and did not have the effort that day to do my hair or put on mascara.)

We had such a blast at the Crayola Experience in Easton, Pennsylvania. I would definitely go back and if I lived there I would want to get a season pass. I told my husband he should get a job in Easton. If you are visiting New York City or Pennsylvania make the drive to the Crayola Experience. If you have kids you will not regret it! Crayola Experience Orlando Review

I am really excited to introduce you to the Crayola Experience in Orlando Florida. I would love to go, I could spend hours inside.

What is the Crayola Experience?
The Crayola experience is a hands on color experience mainly geared at kids. All the locations feature hands on attractions, a Crayola Cafe, and a Crayola Store. I would go to the Crayola Experience just for the store. There are products in there you can not find ANYWHERE else.

The Crayola Experience Orlando location is the second Crayola Experience to open in July 2015 . The first was located in Easton, Pennsylvania where the Crayola Factory used to be. I loved it so much I visited it for my 31st birthday. Since then another one has opened in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a new one will open in Plano, Texas in the spring of 2018.

*I teamed up with the Crayola Experience in Orlando to write this post. They let me use all their pictures so I could show you what it is all about. There are also affiliate links in this post.

Location and Prices
The Crayola Experience is located in the Florida Mall. It is located south of downtown Orlando, close to the airport and 30 minutes from Disney World. The address is:
  • 8001 S Orange Blossom Trial #1300A, Orlando, FL 32809
It is almost the size of a department store (70,000 square feet) and is two levels. That is huge!

The hours are 10:00-8:00 PM every day of the year, even Christmas and Thanksgiving. The ticket prices are regularly $22.99. I have a special discount for my readers. You can save $5 dollars and get in for $17.99. If you are thinking of going more than once though make sure to get the annual pass, it is regularly $34.99. They can be used in all locations and provide additional discounts on extra items. If I lived in Florida we would get that one and be there at least once a week. One of my collector friends has a pass and I am so jealous.

What's Inside
Once you get inside there are so many fun things to do. Here is a map Crayola Experience provided for this post and one can be found on their website. Some of my favorite activities are the Wrap It Up where you personalize crayons, Drip Art, where you create melted spinning crayon art, and all the playgrounds. What I love about the Crayola Experience is since it is so big it does not feel crowded. We have visited Legoland Discovery Centers in New York and Kansas City and have vowed to never go again because we felt like we were trampling on one another.

Clear souvenir bags are handed out as guests arrive. Guests can put all their fun creations inside. I love having bags like this when we go places because if not I end up carrying so many random things around and end up losing them. There are also two tokens in each bag. They can be used for personalizing crayons or model magic. More tokens can be purchased for .25.

I have included a little bit about each area below along with some pictures. What I have noticed is some areas are similar to toys that Crayola offers. I will include links to the toys if I have posted about them on this website. The "Say Crayola" and the "Trading Post" have additional costs. I have included as many details about the extra costs. Crayola Store
This is my favorite part about visiting any Crayola Experience. There are currently four Crayola stores in the US. One at each Crayola Experience Location. The fourth one is located in Kansas City, Missouri. I go to the Crayola Store almost every time I go to Kansas City. Many times they have products that are not available ANYWHERE else. I have acquired a lot of unique items for my collection from the Crayola Store.

Each Crayola Experience Store features a unique box.

Crayola basically sells two types of products, one is Licensed products that other manufacturers make and put the Crayola logo onside. These products can vary ranging from hats, shirts, Dylan's candy, Sally nail polish, Clinique lipstick, stuffed animals, puzzles, phone cases, necklaces, magnets, tissues, stickers, books, dental items, tins, and much more. The other product Crayola sells are Crayola original products. These usually include crayons, colored pencils, markers, some toys and other art supplies. You can differentiate the two products by looking to see if it has a Crayola product number. Their product numbers are called style and code numbers.

Another big perk to the Crayola Experience Crayola Stores is the Pick Your pack wall. Here you can purchase whatever crayon or marker color you want.

A tin box costs $16.99 and a round tin for $21.99. You can even purchase individual crayons for $.25 and markers for $.30. Prices are subject to change.

Here are all the colors available (subject to change): aquamarine, bittersweet, brick red, brown, cadet blue, cornflower, razzmatazz, goldenrod, green yellow, lavender, orchid, periwinkle, peach, yellow, orange, red, violet (purple), plum, blue, green, turquoise blue, black, white, burnt sienna, sepia, cerulean, fuchsia, dandelion, royal purple, tropical rain forest, mango tango, sky blue, spring green, wild blue yonder, salmon, silver, electric lime, radical red, scarlet, laser lemon, shocking pink, razzle dazzle rose, robins egg blue. cerise, tickle me pink, Mac&Cheese, asparagus, granny smith apple, purple mountains majesty, timberwolf, denim, shamrock, wisteria, mauvelous, pacific blue, pink flamingo, piggy pink, maroon glitter, cotton candy, banana mania, antique brass, blue bell, carribean green, alloy orange, big dip o'ruby, fuzzy wuzzy, canary, metallic sunburst, jazzberry jam, unmellow yellow, purple pizzazz, screamin' green, carnation pink, yellow gel-fx, b-dazzled blue

I am sooooo glad Crayola has these Crayola Experiences. I do wish they had more of a historical component to them and there was a museum, but these will do for now. The Crayola Experience in Easton has many historical aspects to it. And I love that they are expanding. This means they are probably doing well. There was a trial at this sort of place in the 2000's with Crayola Works in Baltimore, Maryland. Unfortunately the location closed because it did not do well.

I really hope these locations do well and they expand all over the country. The Crayola Store is my favorite place to visit. Grab a ticket now, for being one of my readers you can get 5.00 off!

2017 Crayola Silly Scents Review: Markers, Twistable Crayons & Colored Pencils, Slim Markers Review: What's Inside the Box

Overview
I am SO excited to review the 2017 Silly Scents line from Crayola. I received these items from Crayola. The Silly Scents line was introduced during back to school in 2017. The lines includes: chisel tips markers, Twistables Crayons, Twistables Colored Pencils and Slim Markers. The scents are mostly food items and outdoor scents. The activity sets (not pictured here) will include eight stinky smells, including Old Shoe and Garlic and eight sweet smells. They will be available at Christmas time. The Silly Scents line is similar to the Doodle Scents line in that it includes faces on the front on pictures of the different scents. There is also a Silly Scents Marker Maker!
Crayola has been making scented art supplies for years now. They started with the Magic Scents line back in 1993. The magic scent line consisted of many of the same colors in the Silly Scents line. The crayons came in 8 and 16 count boxes. The 1993 Magic scents had food items, the 1994 set had non food items in it to prevent kids from eating the crayons. This 2017 Silly Scents line has a bittering agent added to the crayons to discourage consumption. I am so excited Crayola is making scented crayons again!

In 1997 Crayola came out with Color 'n Smell crayons. These were scented non food crayons.

In 2006 and 2007 with a Silly Scents line which included crayons, markers and colored pencils. This silly scents line was very silly. It had gross smells in it, ie alien armpit and ogre odor. This is very different than the current line except for the activity sets which will come out later this year that will include stinky smells.

Crayola has been making scented markers for a while. It had been including them with SuperTips Markers. Over the last couple of years they introduced the Doodle Scents, Pip Scents, Powerlines and Scented Mighty Marks.

Review
What did I think? I loved using all of them. Scented crayons, markers and colored pencils are some of my favorite things. They take me back to when I was young. And they are a hit with all my preschool kids. They always go for the scented markers and crayons. When I opened my package I could definitely smell the scents. I have gotten scented crayons and markers from Crayola before and these were definitely the strongest smelling packaging. I think it is the Twistables that smell. It was a pleasant smell, like opening a box of fruit loops.

The colors were very vibrant and the smells were mostly very strong. It seemed the crayons were not as strong at the colored pencils and markers, but they were still smelly. My kids loved the crayons and we will happily use them and I am sure they will be a favorite. My favorite will probably be the Slim Tip markers and the colored pencils.
