Paper Mate Flair Scented and Flair Bold 16 Count Review

Guess what? This journal page smells as pretty as it looks! I was so excited to have the opportunity to try out the new Paper Mate Flair Scented Brunch Scents and Flair Bold  Pens. They both come in 16 beautiful colors. I have not reviewed much of Flair Pens yet on the blog, but I do have a pack from Christmas that I will put up soon. Flair pens are a felt tip gold standard pen. I say gold standard because EVERY teacher swears by them. Also I recently bought this planner to put all my swatches in and I love it especially because it has the dots so I can make straight lines (or at least try to).

I happily received these from Flair in exchange for an honest review. The paper for the Flair Bold was provided by Hahnemuhle. This blog post contains affiliate links.

Crayola 72 Silly Scents Crayons and Colored Pencils

The other day in our facebook group someone asked about the 72 Silly Scents Crayons and Colored Pencils. I knew I had to get them because there were new colors in the box. I bought them on Amazon. The other day I did a YouTube video showing the colors and the swatches for all the colors. The crayons were easy to match up with the colors on the back of the box, but the colored pencils were really hard. I would have thought I could tell by the smell, but alas, the scents are not very easy to tell apart. They do not "smell" like their color very strongly.

Here are all the colors included in the box.

Color Information

Here are all the color names for the Crayola 72 Silly Scents Crayons and Colored Pencils.

  • Crayons: roses, birthday cake, cherry, strawberry, cinnamon, mango, orange, popcorn, peach, flower, banana, pineapple, lime, grass, watermelon, apple, spearmint, pine, bay breeze, blueberry, cola, wild berry, plum, lavender, grape, fruit smoothie, cotton candy, fruit punch, bubble gum, root beer, pumpkin pie, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, coconut, fresh air
  • Colored Pencils: fruit punch, cherry, banana, peach, cinnamon, orange, popcorn, flower, mango, pineapple, lime, grass, spearmint, watermelon, apple, pine, bay breeze, cola, blue berry, grape, wild berry, plum, lavender, fruit smoothie, cotton candy, bubble gum, birthday cake, roses, strawberry, pumpkin pie, chocolate, root beer, licorice, coconut, vanilla, fresh air

Here are the swatches for the crayons and colored pencils. The colors did not match up very well with each other. For example the pine crayon color and pine colored pencils did not match up at all. Some of the crayons did not want to color on the paper either such as the cola. This set was nice, but not as cool at the Magic Scents.

Silly Scents Aroma Putty

I first saw Silly Putty Aroma Putty at Toy Fair 2019. They had it on display with other Silly Scents products. Crayola owns Silly Putty and has really revamped the Silly Putty Line. They have incorporated Silly Scents into the Silly Putty and even have a Poop Silly Putty. Aroma Putty comes in Fall and Holiday Scents. I was given the Holiday Scents Silly Putty from Crayola. It feels just like regular Silly Putty except it is scented. The scents are not too overwhelming and are very nice.

The Scents in the Holiday Aroma Putty are Candy Cane, Sugar Cookie, Ginger Bread, and Pine. The scents in the Fall Aroma Putty set are Cranberry, Apple Pie, Pumpkin Spice, and Autumn Leaf.

Crayola Silly Scents with Pineapple

Crayola brought new life to the Silly Scents line in 2017. In 2018 they revamped all the boxes of Silly Scents by introducing Pineapple into their boxes. Many times it replaced lemon in the boxes. I was able to get the colored pencils, thin washable markers, and twistable crayons. Crayola also introduced Pineapple into the chisel tip markers, the washable paint and the mini twistable crayons. I will put those in this post as I get them.

The Silly Scents are great markers because of their fun scents. My kids love to color for them and always reach for the scented markers when coloring.

Crayola Color 'n Smell Crayons

I am so excited I finally got my hands on a box of Crayola Color 'n Smell crayons. Color 'n Smell crayons were a continuation of Crayola's Magic Scent line. The Magic Scent line started out with edible crayon scents, but apparently Crayola received complaints of children eating crayons and changed them to non edible scented crayons. Crayola even asked on this box of Color 'n Smell crayons what other scents people would want. Sadly this was the last scented box of actual crayons Crayola would put out. They have since come out with a Silly Scents line, but there are no scented crayons.

Review: Crayola Color Wonder Scented Stampers and Markers

The cool thing about the Color Wonder line is it only colors on special paper. That way the marker does not stain everything around the house. Crayola Color Wonder has been around for a while, but this year Crayola introduced scented color wonder markers and a scented color wonder stamping pad.  Crayola sent me the new scented Color Wonder set to review and we loved it, especially my son.

What Comes In the Box?
Here is the back of the box showing all the contents. The set includes 5 scented markers; cherry, blueberry, orange, lime, and banana, 1 chocolate scented stamp pad, 5 stamp pads: donuts, lollipop, ice cream cone, cookie, and cupcake, 1 stamp holder, and 12 sheets of Color Wonder paper.
How Does It Work?
Color Wonder ink only reacts with color wonder paper. It appears clear at first and then the color transforms to whatever color was used. I used both markers and the stamp pad to color the page below. Any color wonder markers can be used with the set, but they will not be scented.

What Did I Think?
Color Wonder is really neat. My son LOVED it and kept begging to color more pages. He loved the way the color appeared before his eyes magically. It worked out really good because we had to take a road trip and it entertained him wonderfully. Here is one of the pages he colored.

He has had other color wonder sets, the character sets and a Planes coloring book. He liked this one the best because he got to create his own images and color everything the color he wanted.

One of the things I would change about this set is to include more paper, it only comes with 12 sheets. I would also make the sheets easily removable from the pad. I have two kids and they both wanted to color at the same time. We ended up tearing and cutting some sheets out.

Do I think Color Wonder is worth it? Definitely, it is a great sensory activity for kids. If it were up to me I would emphasize the Magic Ink more than Mess Free because honestly it is not very hard to clean up washable markers. I just cleaned up some red Silly Scents off the kids coloring station today with just water. I had to use windex for the pencil markers. My kids LOVED that it magically appeared.
