Crayola 50 Count Colored Pencils: What's Inside the Box

I can not tell you how many years I had Crayola 50 colored pencils on my Christmas list, but it was a long time.  They were very pricey, at least to me back in the day.  I was so excited to get them from my aunt for Christmas when I was in college. Colored pencils are probably my favorite Crayola product ever.  I know I own a lot of crayons, but they make more crayon variations then they do colored pencils.  Pencils are so versatile, they can be pressed soft to make a light line, and pressed harder to make a dark line.  Crayons can be used that way too, but the finished product with a pencil is much smoother and does not leave behind any flakes. When my daughter started coloring with colored pencils and using all my old boxes I decided it was time to get her her own box of 50 colored pencils.  She loves them!

These two box designs are interesting to compare.  A lot of the formatting is different, and the most interesting thing for me is the shading on the box.  When I put these two pictures side by side, I went back to make sure I did not over edit and get the colors wrong, but they are that much different in color.  The newer box uses gradual shading on the orange background and the top green tab.  It is interesting to note that the colors are the exact same.  There has not been any changes in 12 years.  Bubble gum was combine and purple was added in parentheses to violet.  Both boxes feature the color names on the back with scribbles of the color. I would love to see all the changes over the years of this box design, it would be cool to see the gradual changes that were made.

I have seen 100 colored pencils being sold and 60 colored pencils being sold. I have not seen the 60 colored pencils in stores yet.  I can not wait to get that one in my hands.
