Crayola Colors of Kindness Crayons

What a year for Crayola! In 2021 Crayola has not only come out with new Colors of the World Colored Pencils and Markers, but they have introduced 4 new colors in the 24 Count Colors of Kindness box. I'm surprised there was not more fanfare. Last time they introduced Bluetiful they had an event in Times Square. They just slipped these colors into a new box. The Colors of Kindness box is sold exclusively at Walmart and comes with a matching coloring book.

The four new colors from Crayola include: crayellow, cool mint, powder blue and oatmeal.

The Colors of Kindness have two color names listed on the crayon, the "Kindness" names and the regular names of the crayons.

Here is all the color names for the crayons.

Sharpie Mystic Gems Fine and Ultra Fine Markers, 12 and 24 count

Sharpie's color palette has increased dramatically throughout the last 30 or 40 years. In 2003 they started releasing 5 limited edition colors every so often. This year in 2021 they have released 14 new colors called the Mystic Gems set. I found out about it at Creativation/Art Materials world this year. I was super excited! I made sure to snag the Mystic gems set. They do not sell an individual set, but all the colors can be found in the 24 Mystic Gems set.

Click here to find the markers on Blick, 12 count24 count.  The paper I used is Hahnemuhle Nostalgie white paper and DCWV cardstock. Click here to find the paper I used on Blick.

The new Mystic Gem Sharpie colors are: purple fluorite, tanzanite, peacock blue, teal tiger's eye, jasper green, amber, cabochon coral, rose quartz, citrine, aquamarine, geode, violet chalcedony, light blue topaz, and lavender mica.

Here are the 12 and 24 packs. The 12 pack only contains 12 of the 14 new colors. Please Sharpie why not just release a 14 count pack???

Crayola Colors of the World Crayons, 24, 32 Count Crayon Colors and Swatches and Coloring Book

Crayola came out with new skin tone crayons this year (2020)!!! They worked with Victor Casale for 8 months to develop these special crayons. The Colors of the World are 24 new specially formulated crayons. They are designed to mirror and represent over 40 global skin tones. These crayons are a major expansion on the Multicultural crayons which were 8 crayons that were picked as skin tones from the standard Crayola colors.

Here are all the swatches of the colors.

How Did It Come To Be?
Crayola worked with Victor Casale, formerly Chief Chemist and Managing Director, R&D of MAC cosmetics and Cofounder and Chief Innovation Officer of Cover FX and currently CEO of MOB Beauty. He worked with Crayola for more than eight months to develop these crayons. Casale says, “Growing up, I remember mixing the pink and dark brown crayons to try and make my shade, so I was thrilled when Crayola asked for my help to create the Colors of the World crayons.”
What's In the Box
There are two boxes, one contains 24 crayons. The other box contains 32 crayons, the 24 crayons from the other box and 8 hair and eye colors. The side panels serve as color references. Each crayon is wrapped in a gradient skin tone label. For now the 32 count crayon pack will be sold exclusively at Walmart and will include four hair and four eye color crayons. The 24 count will be available on Crayola.com. Here are all the colors. They come in 3 undertones;  almond, rose and golden.

What did I think?
I am super impressed with these new crayons and think it is a great addition to the Crayola line of colors. I know I have had problems in the past coloring skin tones and this will help tremendously.

I am also excited because next year Crayola will release colored pencils and markers in the Colors of the World line. Colored Pencils are my favorite to color people with. There is also a 168 count Crayon Tub that will be released exclusively at Walmart featuring Colors of the World later this year. It is one of the biggest crayon boxes with unique crayon names. There is a 200 count box available but that one has repeat colors.

Crayola Neon Oil Pastels

Crayola snuck in the Neon Crayola Oil Pastels last year in 2017. To the common observer it was just another box, but low and behold there are two new colors in the set! The new colors are Aqua Brite and Blue Bolt. Oil pastels are very pretty to work with. They are great for blending, have a hexagonal shape and are more smooth than crayons. They are not for children though because they can easily stain surface.

Crayola Name the New Color-Dandelion Retirement Boxes: What's Inside the Box

Crayola  came out with three special boxes to advertise the retirement of their Dandelion crayon and a contest to name a new blue. The boxes come in 24, 64 and 120 colors. They all feature the same text about the contest and about dandelion retiring. This will be probably the last time Dandelion is included in a box of Crayola crayons. I saw these boxes at Kroger stores, Target, and Walmart. These will definitely be collector boxes in the future.

The boxes feature "Name the New Color for a change to WIN!" on the front of the box. Some where on the box it also says "Last chance to get Dandelion!" These are what Crayola calls promo boxes because they are promoting something for the company.
