Was the Egg Mazing Worth It?

I saw so many people post about the Egg Mazing Egg Decorator. I thought I should try it. I bought it at Target and got my eggs ready. The first egg went fine, but by the third egg the Egg Mazing had broken. The device became uneven at the contact points. When it was turning the egg, the egg would flip over and not stay spinning. It was a disappointment and I had to return it. Hopefully next year they improve that and it does not break..

What's In the Box

The Egg Mazing comes with 8 markers that can draw on eggs and one Egg Decorator Device that spins eggs.

How Does It Work?

The Egg Mazing is a pretty easy concept. The egg is placed in the middle and the device is turned on. The device spins the egg. Once the egg is spinning the markers are used to draw patterns and lines on the eggs. There are so many possibilities of how to use it.

Here are the eggs I decorated with the Egg Mazing. I would love to try it again next year and have it hopefully work this time!

24 Crayola Colors of the World Colored Pencils

Crayola came out with Colors of the World Crayons in July 2020. They worked with Victor Casale for to develop the crayons. At this time I asked them if there would be Colors of the World markers and colored pencils. They said yes. And guess what? I found them! The colored pencils colors are the same colors as the crayons and are representative of many skin tones. I have a feeling these colored pencils are going to be a hit. There are so much more possibilities for colored pencils than markers and crayons, shading, blending etc. They will be a big hit and most likely sell out. They will also be great for kids.

24 Crayola Colors of the World Markers Review and Swatches

It took me a while to find these markers. I preordered them from Amazon on October 8th. Amazon is usually amazing with preorders. The day came they were supposed to come, December 23 and they had not been shipped yet. I was super disappointed. My local Walmart had them "in stock". I went to check there, but sadly no one could find them and they were not out. I ordered them (and a lot of other supplies to get free shipping) on Blick Art Supplies thinking I would get them. I got a shipping confirmation for my order and sadly they were not in there. Blick said they wouldn't get the markers in stock until the end of January. :( I then went to Crayola.com and ordered them there. They are supposed to get here tomorrow. I was super anxious to get them though and decided to check the other Walmart in my area and they had them! I was super happy and now I can post them. For right now check Walmart and Crayola.com to get them.

How to Make Reports and Projects Fun

My kids’ school is doing hybrid learning this year. They attend 2 days at school and 3 days at home. The teachers give them work to do, and I am also supplementing. Last year we supplemented with math, social studies, art, and science. This year I can throw out math because the teachers are teaching it! Now I can focus on the other subjects.

We received a whole bunch of Crayola project supplies in exchange for an honest review.

As part of that review I decided to have my daughter do some research and write about it. I warned her about it on Friday for the next week and she was already getting one ready. I told her she did not need to start it until she was home on Wednesday. Wednesday came and she knocked out two. She already started on a third with her friend! To say she was excited was an understatement.

I was so impressed with her reports I wanted to write and individual post about how to make reports and learning fun. Not only was she reading to research her projects, she was writing and drawing pictures. Three skills in one! It is a perfect STEAM project.

Here are some tips to make projects fun for kids. I was a coach for odyssey of the mind last year and many of the techniques taught in that program are so useful. In that program the coach is there to help guide the kids, not there to do the work for the kids.

Let them choose something they like. Do not choose it for them. My daughter chose artic foxes and the sun because she loves them both.
Have some art supplies the kids can choose from. Again let the kids choose from what is available. This is what we had to choose from.

Set aside a time and let them do their thing! If the kids need help, help them, but do not do it for them.

Make a Super Cute Pumpkin Quote Board

School has started for us. I wanted to give my kids an extra fun project to do this week and this Halloween themed modge podge wooden quote board fit the bill. I can not wait to display it in our house for Halloween.

Supplies

The supplies for the project and links of where to buy them are:

wooden board, can be purchased and cut at a hardware store or these precut ones from Amazon.
modge podge
paper cutter, I LOVE my Cutterpillar crop.
sponge brush
pumpkin stickers
scrapbook paper
sandpaper does not need to be a very high grit. The lower grits will be faster. A higher grit can be used later to make extra smooth.
Quote
Glitter if desired.

Instructions

The instructions for the project are as follows:

Gather the supplies.
Cut the wooden board to size.
Sand the board starting with the lower grit paper. I only used the lower grit to smooth the edges.
Cut the quote and scrapbook paper to size using a paper cutter. I made the scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the board so the edges would not curl
